Melissa McCargar, LSWAIC (She/Her)
Psychotherapist at And Still We Rise, Melissa McCargar (she/her), is a Licensed Social Work Associate Independent Clinical (LSWAIC). She believes that therapy is a collaborative process where clients are the experts in their own experiences, and that there are no one size fits all solutions. Melissa also believes it is important to focus on underserved communities, and is dedicated to providing a safe, affirming space where individuals feel supported. To achieve this, her approach to therapy is evidence-based and centered in equity and justice. She is provisionally licensed in Washington and Texas.
Melissa is a white, cisgender, queer woman who is passionate about inclusivity, equity, and justice. Ms. McCargar has experience working with LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, adolescents in foster care, and individuals in long-term care. Ms. McCargar holds an Associate degree in Business from Nashville State College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Studies with a non-profit minor from Tennessee State University, and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Texas State University.
Melissa loves listening to music, reading, playing games, making delicious things to eat, woodworking, and going on adventures with her wife and two Huskies, Romeo and Julian.
