Sky Gavis-Hughson, LICSW (They/Them)
Sky Gavis-Hughson (they/them) is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Massachusetts and a psychotherapist and consultant at And Still We Rise.
Sky believes that we heal in relationship and sees their role as supporting clients to build a strong relationship with themselves. They work with clients to develop and strengthen internal resources, learn to stay present with difficult emotions, and move through internal conflicts to a place of alignment, self understanding, and self compassion. Sky brings an intersectional social justice lens to their work that recognizes that our beliefs and relationships are shaped by systems of power and oppression.
Sky specializes in the treatment of complex trauma through techniques including parts work, somatic approaches, and EMDR. Their clinical interests include LGBTQ+ identity, dissociation and dissociative disorders, attachment and boundaries, the impacts of systemic marginalization and oppression, chronic pain and illness, disability, spirituality, neurodivergence, body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRB), and self injurious and suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Sky has completed Level 1 trainings in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Sky has a background in trans community organizing and community mental health. Before coming to And Still We Rise, Sky interned at South End Community Mental Health Center offering individual psychotherapy in English and Spanish. They hold a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Yale University and a Master’s in Social Work from Simmons University. In their free time Sky enjoys cooking, crafting, making music, and building community.
Sky is fluent in English and conversationally fluent in Spanish and French.
